HypertensionAmlodipine is indicated for the treatment of hypertension.

It may be used alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents.2.

Coronary Artery Disease (CAD)Chronic Stable AnginaAmlodipine is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of chronic stable angina.

Amlodipine may be used alone or in combination with other antianginal agents.Vasospastic Angina (Prinzmetal’s or Variant Angina)Amlodipine is indicated for the treatment of confirmed or suspected vasospastic angina.

Amlodipine may be used as monotherapy or in combination with other antianginal drugs.

Hypertensive disease -- Persistently high systemic arterial BLOOD PRESSURE. Based on multiple readings (BLOOD PRESSURE DETERMINATION), hypertension is currently defined as when SYSTOLIC PRESSURE is consistently greater than 140 mm Hg or when DIASTOLIC PRESSURE is consistently 90 mm Hg or more.

Prinzmetal angina -- A clinical syndrome characterized by the development of CHEST PAIN at rest with concomitant transient ST segment elevation in the ELECTROCARDIOGRAM, but with preserved exercise capacity.

Amlodipine is contraindicated in patients with known sensitivity to amlodipine.

Increased Angina and/or Myocardial Infarction: Rarely, patients, particularly those with severe obstructive coronary artery disease, have developed documented increased frequency, duration and/or severity of angina or acute myocardial infarction on starting calcium channel blocker therapy or at the time of dosage increase.

The mechanism of this effect has not been elucidated.
